Speaking & Consultancy

Joanna Chiu is available as a guest speaker, workshop facilitator and consultant.

She has given lectures and workshops on topics including media literacy and foreign correspondence as well as talks focused on China: the country’s politics, status of women, internet censorship, legal affairs, technological advancement, poverty alleviation, civil society and international relations.

Her work as a presenter draws from her previous experience as a health educator in Canadian schools and a global conference manager and speaker for Oxfam International.

If you would like to request her for an event, please send a note outlining proposed topic, event duration, location and description of participants to contact@joannachiu.com.

Fees are charged on a sliding scale depending on organizations’ budgets and special requirements.

Chiu has also provided consulting services to a number of prominent media outlets, private companies and international NGOS. In March 2018, PEN America published a 90-page report on Chinese social media censorship based on Chiu’s research.
